Why should I care?

If this is your first time visiting the blog, please see the previous post to read all about sweet Zoey! 26 pieces sold....474 to go!

There are hundreds of worthy causes in the world, and hundreds of children who need families. So you may be wondering, why should I care about this? Why Zoey?

You are right, there are a lot of great causes in the world, and some right in our own backyard. I will start by saying we should all do SOMETHING. This is the "something" I have felt led to be a part of.

I love Zoey, for a lot of reasons. First off, I volunteered to be her advocate during the Reece's Rainbow Christmas Warrior campaign. She is beautiful, and her smile caught my eye. Over the course of the campaign, I completely fell in love with her sweet face. At that time, she didn't have a family. The thought of her going to a mental institution made me nauseous.

When I found out she had a family, I was over the moon with excitement. I screamed, I cried, and I called just about everyone I knew. I LOVE Zoey, but I care about ALL of the babies who need homes. If you need a reason to care too, let me give you some:

1. Because the Bible commands us to: "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress." (James 1:27) "Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves…defend the rights of the needy." (Proverbs 31:8,9)

2. Because the children in Eastern Europe are in a much, MUCH more desperate situation than a lot (not every, but a lot) of children in America. Yes, EVERY SINGLE CHILD deserves a family. But in America, we do not send children to adult mental institutions. That's just a fact.

3. Because, while one person can't "save them all", one person CAN make a difference for ONE CHILD. Zoey needs our help, and her life is just as worthy as every child in this world.

4. Because if you spend your $5 on Zoey instead of your coffee this morning, you can go to bed tonight knowing you made a difference in a child's life. That will feel much better than any caffeine buzz - I promise.

Please, make a difference for this child!!!

(Naya, Ruslan, and Artem (below) are all available for adoption. Ruslan has already been transferred to a mental institution. Visit reecesrainbow.org for more information).
