Determination

One fascinating thing about this journey so far, has been the scope of people, from so many places, who have stepped up to help Zoey. I have had donations from Belgium, Finland, Texas, Ohio, Nebraska, Kansas, Michigan, Virginia, Washington, California, Colorado, Oregon, and Arizona. I have people asking, how can I help? One person is collecting donations at her office. Another offered to hold her own fundraisers.

On the other hand, there are many adoptive families, including Zoey's, who have been attacked by people who don't agree with what they are doing. They don't see these precious babies as valuable, or they simply enjoy spreading hatred.

Yet when I see how many people want to help, and who want to spread LOVE and KINDNESS, it makes me thankful that our God is so much bigger and so much stronger than all the negativity.

"Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." (Romans 12:21)

My Heart

My heart can't take it. It really is true that once your eyes are opened, you can't turn back. I don't think anything conveys the urgency of these children's situation better than someone who has been inside one of the worst institutions in Eastern Europe. Thank you Jesus, that the Evans family is rescuing Zoey. I don't believe every institution is as bad as this one, but I am glad Zoey won't have to take her chances.

This blog is of a woman just adopted a 9 year old with Down Syndrome from a Pleven orphanage - little Katerina was the size of a toddler. Children in this place are barely fed, diapers changed every other day. One child kept in isolation for two years, for no reason. It's unbelievable. Pray, pray, pray that the government will step in: http://theblessingofverity.com/.

Please participate in the puzzle piece fundraiser. On behalf of Zoey, and the other children just like her who still haven't been chosen.

Why should I care?

If this is your first time visiting the blog, please see the previous post to read all about sweet Zoey! 26 pieces sold....474 to go!

There are hundreds of worthy causes in the world, and hundreds of children who need families. So you may be wondering, why should I care about this? Why Zoey?

You are right, there are a lot of great causes in the world, and some right in our own backyard. I will start by saying we should all do SOMETHING. This is the "something" I have felt led to be a part of.

I love Zoey, for a lot of reasons. First off, I volunteered to be her advocate during the Reece's Rainbow Christmas Warrior campaign. She is beautiful, and her smile caught my eye. Over the course of the campaign, I completely fell in love with her sweet face. At that time, she didn't have a family. The thought of her going to a mental institution made me nauseous.

When I found out she had a family, I was over the moon with excitement. I screamed, I cried, and I called just about everyone I knew. I LOVE Zoey, but I care about ALL of the babies who need homes. If you need a reason to care too, let me give you some:

1. Because the Bible commands us to: "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress." (James 1:27) "Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves…defend the rights of the needy." (Proverbs 31:8,9)

2. Because the children in Eastern Europe are in a much, MUCH more desperate situation than a lot (not every, but a lot) of children in America. Yes, EVERY SINGLE CHILD deserves a family. But in America, we do not send children to adult mental institutions. That's just a fact.

3. Because, while one person can't "save them all", one person CAN make a difference for ONE CHILD. Zoey needs our help, and her life is just as worthy as every child in this world.

4. Because if you spend your $5 on Zoey instead of your coffee this morning, you can go to bed tonight knowing you made a difference in a child's life. That will feel much better than any caffeine buzz - I promise.

Please, make a difference for this child!!!

(Naya, Ruslan, and Artem (below) are all available for adoption. Ruslan has already been transferred to a mental institution. Visit reecesrainbow.org for more information).

Welcome!

Thank you for stopping by! If you are familiar with Zoey and her story, then I will get straight to the point - Zoey's family needs to raise $10,000 more dollars before they can bring her home. Please participate in the puzzle piece fundraiser for Zoey - see the right bar for more details. Please do NOT let money be an obstacle for sweet Zoey to know the love of a family! This is your chance to be a part of something so, so important. Please help! If you feel you cannot donate, please share this site wherever you can - every single dollar helps!

For those not familiar with Zoey and her story, please read on.

This is a site dedicated to a beautiful little girl name Zoey. Zoey is 2-years-old and lives in an orphanage on the other side of the world. She is active and big-hearted, with a lot of personality. Zoey has Down Syndrome.

Did you know that approximately 90% of mothers who find out their unborn child has Down Syndrome choose abortion? In the area of the world where Zoey lives, babies who are born with Down Syndrome go straight to orphanages. Mothers are told they will amount to nothing. When these children turn four, they are transferred to adult mental institutions, where the majority of them die within the first year.

That is - unless they are adopted! Children with Down Syndrome are said to be some of the most wonderful, loving, and yes, CAPABLE children you will ever meet. American families are choosing to go around the world and rescue these precious babies.

Lauren and Adam Evans are one of those families. They have recently committed to Zoey. They are going to be her mommy and daddy! Unfortunately, they are still $10,000 short of their fundraising goal. They cannot bring Zoey home until they raise all of the funds.

Yes, there are hundreds of children around the world who need homes. Yes, there are children right in our own backyard who need homes. That is why everyone should do their part. EVERY CHILD deserves a family, Zoey included. PLEASE help bring Zoey home! After all, how can you say no to this sweet little face?
